Disaster Declaration Sought For Costs Associated With Hard Winter

Fond du Lac County cities, towns and villages would be able to get some financial relief for their costs to repair infrastructure during last winter if Governor’s Walker’s request for a disaster declaration is successful. Fond du Lac, Winnebago and six other counties would receive $11.3 million for costs associated with things like repairing broken water mains and frozen water towers under the declaration. Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel says Fond du Lac County municipalities would receive more than $300,000. He says it was one of the toughest winters a lot of Wisconsin residents lived through. Buechel says if the Federal Emergency Management Agency grants the disaster declaration the County would be the agency the funding would be funneled through for municipalities in the County.
