Doctor Injured In FDL CO Crash Dies

UW Health officials say the neonatal doctor critically injured when an ambulance crashed south of Rosendale Wednesday afternoon has died. Dr. Stanley Phillips was part of a crew of five that were traveling from Madison to Appleton to pick up an infant patient. The driver of the ambulance was going too fast to negotiate a curve on Highway 26 and their ambulance went off the road, struck a culvert and flipped over on its side. The 32-year-old doctor suffered severe head injuries in the crash. He was flown to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. Three female crew members were taken to hospitals in Fond du Lac and Waupun with non-life threatening injuries.
