Dodge County Board Approves New Records Management System For Sheriffs Office

The Dodge County Board this week approved a request from the Sheriff’s Department for a new records management system. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the switch from the troubled New World system to one provided by Spillman Technologies won’t occur until January of 2018. He says quite a few sheriffs and police departments in Wisconsin use the system. He says 20 sheriffs’ offices and 54 police departments use it and two more are acquiring the system.  He says they won’t rush the new system, which says was one of the reasons they’ve had problems with New World. Meanwhile he says he was able to negotiate a refund from New World although the company’s contract with them doesn’t run out until the end of 2017. He says nearly $55,000 is being refunded to the County because of the problems they’ve had with New World and promises that weren’t kept. The new system will cost the County over $1.1 million. Schmidt says it’s the brains of the office’s records management system being used in the jail, dispatch center, squad cars and office.
