Dodge County Sheriffs Dept Adds Third K9

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office will soon have a new police dog on the beat. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the canine is currently being trained and a handler has been selected. Deputy Taylor Nehls, the son of former Sheriff Todd Nehls, has been selected to be Tek’s handler. Tek is a two-year-old German Shepherd and is trained in narcotics detection, human tracking and handler protection. The addition puts one canine on the streets of Dodge County for each shift throughout the day.  Nehls and K9 Tek will be on the beat sometime in August after their training is complete.
