Dogs Will Be Allowed In All FDL City Parks

By a 4 to 3 vote the Fond du Lac City Council amended a city ordinance to allow dogs in all city parks. Before the vote Wednesday night Misty Gedlinske the founder of Fond du Lac Dogs in Parks spoke in favor of allowing dogs in all parks and said unless the city had hard data that dogs shouldn’t be allowed in Buttermilk Creek Park that park should also allow dogs otherwise it might alienate people who live around that park. Dog owner Charles Mauch liked the idea of keeping the ordinance the way it has been the past year with some parks not allowing dogs. He says he walks his dogs on sidewalks and doesn’t see why others can’t too. Council members Karyn Merkel, Derek TerBeest and Lee Ann Lorrigan voted against the change because they wanted to keep dogs out of Buttermilk Creek Park. The ordinance change prohibits dogs near the Lakeside Park playground area and the animal pens.
