Donations Needed For Food For Freedom Effort

He’s a little sun burnt and tired but Fond du Lac High School Junior Danny Loomans remains in high spirits as he and an army of volunteers take donations for an effort to break the world record for a food drive. Danny says a lot of good things are happening. He says an Oshkosh couple saw a story about the effort and came to the Fond du Lac High School after buying a bunch of groceries to donate to the drive. He says they stayed to volunteer. The Guinness Book of World Records record for the largest food drive is just short of 559,000 pounds. As of this posting just before 9 a.m. Sunday morning the drive at the Fond du Lac High School had collected nearly 96,000 pounds of food, which Danny says will still help out a lot of people at food pantries in a five-county area. The drive runs until 1 p.m. this afternoon. Picture Courtesy of Food For Freedom.
