EAA Approved for Farming Permits

The EAA looks like it may be getting into the farming business at Wittman Regional Airport. The Winnebago County Board approved a permit for the EAA to lease 45 acres for unrestricted farming – including soybeans, alfalfa, hay, and corn – along with another 38 acres for low-growth farming.
The rental rate will run about $175 per acre, with a first year total around $14,175. The permit will run through the end of 2021. No farming will be allowed on the property from July 15th-August 5th, so AirVenture will be relatively free of any possible hay dust left over.
