Electioneering Complaints

Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg and Fond du Lac City Clerk Maggie Hefter say they got complaints about electioneering during Tuesday’s elections. It had to do with supporters for Mark Elliot’s State Senate candidacy standing near polling locations with signs urging people to vote for him. Freiberg says they did investigate complaints at the Fairgrounds, which is a polling location She says those holding signs were over 100 feet from the entrance of the polling site, which is legal. Hefter says a young man holding a sign near the high school went into the school first and made an elections official aware he would be outside. Again he was more than 100 feet from the entrance to the polling location. Freiberg says they get similar complaints about yard signs at a Town of Lamartine home across the road from a polling location. Hefter says she did remove a number of signs Tuesday from City park property and in City terraces, which isn’t legal.  (Facebook photo from Mark Elliot campaign).
