The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says there was an
explosion late Wednesday night at the Didion corn milling plant in
Cambria. Authorities say the explosion happened around
11pm at the plant which is in the 500 block of
Williams Street. Multiple fire
departments and medical helicopters were called to the scene to assist. Multiple
burn victims were reported and a number of people were still unaccounted for as
of early this morning. Power went out around the village late last night but
was restored a few hours after the explosion. The Wisconsin Department of
Transportation says Highway 146 in
Cambria is
closed between highways 16 and 33 due to the incident. Officials with Didion
say there is no danger to the public and no need for evacuation.
