Fatal Crash On FDL County Highway F w/Update

One person was killed in fiery crash on Fond du Lac County Highway F under Highway 41 about 1:30 this morning. A 2008 Chevrolet Express passenger van was westbound on County Highway F and struck the bridge support at Highway 41. The impact of the crash started the vehicle on fire and totally destroyed it. The driver and lone occupant was killed in the crash. County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says the fire did so much damage that they weren’t able to get the VIN numbers off the vehicle or identify the driver. Olig says no one witnessed the crash. He says it wasn’t until after it happened that other drivers spotted the flames. He says they had inspectors out at the scene looking at the damage to the bridge to make sure its structural integrity wasn’t compromised by the crash. Anyone who might have information about the crash is asked to call (920) 929-3390.

Sheriff’s officials say a 52-year-old Fond du Lac man was the victim in the crash, but they are not releasing his name pending notification of the next of kin and positive identification through dental records.
