Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 49 in the Town of Alto Saturday afternoon. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Fire Departments from Alto and Waupun, Lifestar EMS and the City of Fond du Lac Ambulance responded to the scene on Highway 49 south of Whooley Road at 3:25 pm. Authorities say a 56-year-old man driving south on Highway 49 lost control of his car, crossed the centerline, and hit a northbound car driven by a 43-year-old woman from Brandon. The driver of the southbound car and a 27-year-old passenger died at the scene. The driver of the northbound car and a 14-year-old passenger were taken to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening. Highway 49 was closed in both directions for about three hours as crews worked at the scene. The crash was the second fatal crash in the County on Saturday.
