Fatal Crash on Highway 49 in the Town of Alto

The Sheriff’s Department has  released the names of those involved in a double-fatal two-vehicle accident on State Highway 49 south of Whooley Road that happened just before 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Fifty-six-year-old Daniel Emmer and his passenger 27-year-old Brian Emmer were in a southbound vehicle that crossed over the center line and struck a northbound vehicle. Both died at the scene. Forty-three-year-old Amy Huenink of Brandon was driving the northbound vehicle. She and her passenger, 14-year-old Haley Huenink, were taken to St. Agnes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 49
in the Town of Alto Saturday afternoon. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office
along with Fire Departments from Alto and Waupun, Lifestar EMS and the City of
Fond du Lac Ambulance responded to the scene on Highway 49 south of Whooley
Road at 3:25 pm. Authorities say a 56-year-old man driving south on Highway 49 lost
control of his car, crossed the centerline, and hit a northbound car driven by
a 43-year-old woman from Brandon. The driver of the southbound car and a 27-year-old
passenger died at the scene. The driver of the northbound car and a 14-year-old
passenger were taken to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment of injuries that were
not life-threatening. Highway 49 was closed in both directions for about three
hours as crews worked at the scene. The crash was the second fatal crash in the
County on Saturday.
