Fatal Crashes in Dodge County Drop 60 Percent

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says fatal crashes in the
county are at their lowest number in nearly 17 years. Eight people died from
crashes in the county in 2018 – that’s down from 20 fatal crashes in 2017,
including 15 in the second half of the year. The sheriff’s office credits targeted
enforcement in high crash areas and public education, among other factors for
the 60% reduction in fatalities from 2017 to 2018. According to a press
release, internal records dating back to 2003 and online records dating to 2001
show that eight fatalities is the lowest annual number of deaths in either
database. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says “The men and women of this agency and
others who contributed to this effort should be proud of the positive impact
they have had on reducing crash fatalities.
No one person is responsible for these results, it was truly a
collaborative effort.”
