FDL Area Chamber Of Commerce Only Endorses Two Candidates

The Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce has come out with its endorsements in the City Council race endorsing just two of the candidates. Both of them are newcomers to City politics; Catherine Block and Dan Manning. Block is a local attorney and Manning a manufacturing engineer at MAG-IAS in Fond du Lac.  “We are confident that these are the best candidates to represent the business community,” explained AC president and CEO Joe Reitemeier.  There are three seats open on the City Council and four candidates. The other two candidates are incumbent Council member Rebecca Lunde-Ross and local businessman Sam Meyer a former City Councilman and County Supervisor.

Association of Commerce endorcements meanless to me. I will vote for candidates with experience which are Lunde-Ross and Meyer.

Lunde-Ross voted to charge us a non-deductible tax for garbage pickup but the money is actually being used to fund the 2.8 million dollar shortfall created by her round-abouts on Pioneer road. I have had enough of her experience. No votes for her in my household. Meyer I do not know. Dan Manning looks real good.

While I didn’t get the AC endorsement, I feel compelled to explain why.

I’ve been in business for 25 years and have been involved in business issues just as long. I know in my heart I’m good for the business community and I don’t need outside validation for that. I was asked to interview with the AC and I respectfully declined. I’ve been asked by several groups to interview and decided I’m not seeking any group endorsements for City Council. I like being independent and decided I wanted to win or lose this race on my own merit and not “owe” any group anything. It may not have been the politically “smart” thing to do, but that’s just how I feel.

A very refreshing approach by Sam Meyer! The AC, what a joke. Joe Redemeyer should spend more time on trying to understand the business of FDL instead of playing stupid politics. No wonder why I refuse to give that organization a dime of my business money.

We need to make sure Rebecca Lunde-Ross is not re-elected. She just votes to increase taxes without considering other options. Its time for her to GO!!!!!!!!

Why would the FDL Association of Commerce endorse a progressive liberal for city council? Dan Manning is also endorsed by Wisconsin Progress. Their website says: website: "Like you, we believe there should be more elected officials that are committed to progressive values. We want to see more diversity in the halls of power. Dan ran for the house of representatives as a liberal Democrat in 2010 when he lived in Kansas.

Endorsed by the SEIU and as co-president of Equality Wisconsin, is Dan Manning, candidate for FdL City Council, really going to promote "the best possible services, at the best possible cost" or favor government unions? Will he promote your values or those of his gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Equality Wisconsin? Educate yourself, every vote is important.
