FDL Becomes A Fair Trade Town

About 50 people crowded into the Fond du Lac City Manager’s office Thursday as City officials received a certificate declaring the City the 32nd Fair Trade Town in the U.S. Jim Hubbard was one of those who worked on the steering committee for the Fair Trade initiative. He says it’s another example of how progressive the City is. City Manager Joe Moore says a number of retailers spoke at the gathering and they are very much aware about how the products they sell are produced. He says they are paying close attention to what conditions those items are being made under and whether those workers are being paid a fair wage. Milwaukee and Madison are the only other Fair Trade Towns in the State of Wisconsin.
