FDL Becomes A Fair Trade Town Thursday

A certificate of declaration will be presented to Fond du Lac City officials Thursday morning at 9 a.m. outside the City Manager’s office declaring Fond du Lac as the 32nd Fair Trade Town in the United States. Jim Hubbard and Carol Smith are on the steering committee that organized the effort to get the designation. Hubbard says it’s quite an honor for the City. Smith says there are a lot of shops that carry Fair Trade products in the Fond du Lac area including the Just Fare Market in Peebles. She says Fair Trade promotes products made by someone getting a fair wage and under good working conditions. Hubbard says as consumers we should be supporting Fair Trade efforts. The public is welcome to attend the declaration presentation on the 4th Floor of the City-County Government Center. You can learn more about Fair Trade at the Fond du Lac Fair Trade Town website.
