FDL City Council Approves Police Department Grant Application

The Fond du Lac City Council has unanimously approved a grant
application for the Fond du Lac Police Department to receive money from the
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. The Police Department
is eligible for $11,317 in grant funding for use in late 2019 and 2020. Assistant
Chief of Police Aaron Goldstein explained to the council at Wednesday’s meeting
that the money will be used to purchase assorted equipment to assist in Officer
safety, training and Emergency Preparedness. Some of the equipment the department
plans to purchase include two handheld ballistic shields, plasma rope for use
in tactical and rescue operations, 15 “charging handles” for use with rifles,
and a safe to be used for storage of all controlled substances.
