FDL City Council Approves Skateboard Park Report And Recommendation
The Fond du Lac City Council last night unanimously approved a report and recommendation to allow continued mixed use of the skate park at Adelaide Park indefinitely. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff made the recommendation while giving the Council a report on a trial period this summer that allowed BMX bikers and scooter users to share the park with skateboarders. Skiff said the Police Department provided figures for 104 days at the park the previous summer during which there were 50 calls to the park and 17 of them were considered serious. By comparison this past summer there were 19 total calls and only 8 were considered serious. Skiff also says that advocates of joint use of the park have been raising funds to maintain it and he was expecting a check presentation soon. The Council also unanimously approved annexation and rezoning requests from Marian University for a property on East Division Street where a small greenhouse will be built. The Council also welcomed new member Brian Foster who was sworn in and seated. He was recently appointed to fill the seat that Councilman Rob Vande Zande resigned from.
