FDL City Council Honors Lorrigan And TerBeest

The Fond du Lac City Council this week presented keys to the City to two Council members putting in their last meeting. Councilman Derek TerBeest lost his reelection bid at the beginning of the month and after six years on the Council Councilwoman Lee Ann Lorrigan reached a term limit. Council President Karyn Merkel said Lorrigan was her mentor. Merkel says, “I really admire the way you handled yourself in touchy situations and how you communicated and how you took care of things just very professionally, but yet with a sense of humor.” Lorrigan had served as both Vice President and President during her years on the Council. During her six years the Council had tackled a number of issues including the fall out from ACT 10, the hiring of City Manager Joe Moore, the bankruptcy and then renovation of the Hotel Retlaw, exploratory committees for Lakeside Park and the downtown, and much more. Lorrigan thanked City staff for their support and past and present Council members. She says, “I just want to say what a pleasure it was working with all of you and thank you for your professionalism in working together we were always able to negotiate and come to a solution for the good of the people right, it was all about serving our community and I appreciate that.” TerBeest served two years on the City Council.
