FDL City Council to Discuss Lakeside Park Pavilion Project Tonight

The Fond du Lac City Council will vote on a resolution
tonight that would instruct city staff to delay design work on the new Lakeside
Park Pavilion in order for alternative options to the plan to be considered.

The current design plans carry a price tag of $3.5
million-dollars, with the new structure to be built on a similar footprint to
where the existing pavilion stands. The resolution coming before the council
tonight cites that there has “been recent, potential interest for private
donations and/or partnerships” that may require the council to “change the
scope, location and/or construction schedule” for the pavilion.

If approved, the resolution would postpone further work
on the pavilion plans until February 15th of 2020. Officials say
planning work can be postponed until that date without impacting the
anticipated start of construction next summer. Planning work would resume after
February 15th unless otherwise instructed by the City Council.

The council meets at 6 pm tonight at the City/County
Government Center in Fond du Lac.
