FDL City Council to Honor Retired FDL PD Assistant Chief Tonight

The Fond du Lac City Council will honor retired Assistant Police Chief Steve Thiry at its meeting tonight. Thiry retired Monday after 27 years of service to the city and its police force. A retirement open house and flag ceremony was held at the Police Department on Monday. Thiry served as the head of the Administrative Branch of the department since 2013, overseeing personnel, hiring, training, budget and policy development and implementation, among others. Aaron Goldstein was promoted from Captain to take over Thiry’s role as Assistant Chief of Administration.

Also at tonight’s meeting, the council will hear the 2020 budget presentation for Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue from Fire Chief Pete O’Leary, and will re-start discussions on changing the city’s trick-or-treating date. The Council meets at 6 pm at the City/County Government Center in Fond du Lac.
