FDL City Council Updated On Progress Of Intergovernmental Agreement

The City of Fond du Lac is working on an Intergovernmental Agreement with neighboring townships. Community Development Director Dyann Benson updated the City Council on the agreement this week. She says it was a 20-year agreement that expires this year. The agreement they are working on to replace it runs for 24 years. She says it provides a cooperative understanding and identification of designated growth areas for both the City and Towns. She says being land-locked the only way the City can grow is to annex land, which is easier to do with the cooperative relationship of adjoining towns. She says they are getting closer to reaching an agreement. She says the evolution of the agreement was really a give and take between the City and the towns. She says they are also working with the towns participating in an outlying sewer group agreement.
