FDL Co. Health Officer Among Those Urging End to Vaping, E-Cigarette Use

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller is among
the leaders across the state and the nation urging people to stop vaping or
using E-cigarettes in the wake of numerous reports of lung disease associated
with their use. Over 450 cases of severe lung disease have been reported to the
CDC from 33 states. In addition, five deaths have been confirmed to the CDC –
in California, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Oregon. In Wisconsin, 34 cases
have been reported, with another 12 cases that need further investigation. “Although
there have been no confirmed cases in Fond du Lac County, as Health Officer, I
am urging residents to stop using any type of electronic smoking device,”
Mueller said. She added that anyone who that uses an e-cigarette device and
experiences symptoms – including cough, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, fatigue,
fever or weight loss – should talk to their doctor immediately.
