FDL County Board Approves 2020 Budget; Honors Three Retiring Employees

The Fond du Lac County Board unanimously approved the
2020 County Budget and Five-year capital improvement plan at its meeting
Tuesday night. The board voted 24-0 to pass both resolutions. The budget is for
$136 million and includes an operating levy of $513-thousand dollars. The
spending plan also includes a levy increase of $1.5 million to $45.9 million in
2019, but a decrease in the tax rate of six cents to $5.87 per thousand dollars
of value on a property.


The County Board also recognized three retiring county employees
for their service. Jeff Belsma is retiring from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s
Office after 26-and-a-half years as a Patrol Deputy, Barb Haensgen has served
for nine years and is retiring as an Account Clerk with the County Treasurers
Office. The board also recognized Sue McManus, who is retiring as Jail Health
Technician for the Fond du Lac County Health Department after 35 years of
service to the county.
