FDL County Board Approves Leases For Tower Space

With more wireless broadband companies interested in leasing space on Fond du Lac County’s six public safety communications towers County Supervisors last night approved a standard lease agreement. County Executive Al Buechel says they checked and other counties have individual lease agreements with providers, but not a standard lease that treats everyone equally. The County Board also approved a lease agreement with Bug Tussel Wireless to lease space on those towers to improve Internet service in rural areas. Buechel says the company will eventually build up to 12 towers of its own, but the lease agreement will allow them to improve service for some County residents while its going through that process. County supervisors amended the original standardized lease agreement to have providers pay a $2,400 deposit for a one year agreement with $600 of that going to the County and the remainder towards rent on those towers. There would also be a $1,500 application fee that will go towards the technical process for the collocation of equipment on the County towers.
