FDL County Board to Consider Redistricting Resolution Tonight
The Fond du Lac County Board will consider a resolution tonight that shows support for the creation of a nonpartisan redistricting process in redrawing
legislative and congressional districts in the state. As of July, 40 of the state’s
72 counties had passed resolutions in support of the change. A number of groups
including the bipartisan Fair Elections Project and the League of Women Voters
are among those pushing for the creation of an independent commission that
would be responsible for drawing legislative maps. The Fond du Lac County
Republican Party issued a statement Monday opposing the resolution – and said
the county board voting on it is “a waste of their time” and that it “has
nothing to do with governing Fond du Lac County.” The board meets at 6 pm at
the City – County Government Center in Fond du Lac.
