FDL County Health Department Stressing Importance of Sunscreen Use

The
Fond du Lac County Health Department is teaming up with a group of community
partners to encourage residents to protect their skin from the sun. Fond du Lac County has the fifth highest rate in the
state for melanoma. County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it’s important to make it a
routine to lather on sunscreen before going outside this summer – in order to
avoid heightening your risk for cancer in the future. Adults in the county
report never, or rarely using sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher on warm, sunny
days. The American Cancer Society recommends using SPF 30 or higher.
