FDL County Health Department Supports Mask Mandate, Says Call Them For Non-Compliance

Governor Tony Evers is issuing a statewide mask order to take effect on Saturday. Evers says that the order is part of a reissuance of a public health emergency because of a second wave of COVID-19 infections. Following the release of the statewide mask mandate, Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt issued a statement, saying his staff would not be enforcing the mask mandate. Waldschmidt said there were many reasons for it, including not having the needed resources nor the time to respond to the complaints.

Now, the FDL County Health Department has said to contact them, for any instances of non-compliance. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller making that announcement Friday morning. Mueller was joined in the Facebook Live video conference by Fond du Lac County Executive Allen Buechel, who said he agrees with Governor Evers on the mask mandate, saying “We have a crisis like none of us has seen before. And it’s not getting better on its own. Which is why Governor Evers had to take some measure. And I support his taking the measure. It’s the right thing to do.” Buechel is asking residents to wear the mask, “so we don’t have to worry about enforcing the wearing of masks or not. We’d much rather have you do the right thing and comply.”
