FDL County Man Charged With Drunken Driving Homicide In Barron County
The 62-year-old Fond du Lac County man suspected of driving drunk and causing a fatal accident in Barron County has been charged with homicide by negligent operation and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Gary Clark of Brandon was charged in Barron County court Wednesday for the accident on Highway 8 Monday night that killed 64-year-old Kathleen Smith of Rice Lake and injured her 17-year-old grandson James Smith. Clark allegedly ran a stop sign with his pickup colliding with Smith’s vehicle. Clark was able to post a $15,000 cash bond, but conditions of his release include no alcohol and daily portable breathalyzer tests at the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office. He will be back in Barron County Court for a preliminary hearing next Thursday.
