FDL County Residents Are Reminded That 9-1-1 Service is For Emergencies

9-1-1 is for emergencies, it’s
not to be used as an information line. But that’s exactly what’s been
happening, ever since the “Safer at Home” emergency orders were issued by
Governor Tony Evers

Director of Communications and Emergency Management for Fond du Lac County, Bobbi Hicken, is asking
residents to stop calling the dispatch center, looking for guidance AND
questions regarding those orders. Callers are getting frustrated because the
dispatchers can’t provide that info, and need to be available to take the calls
from residents who need police, fire and EMS
assistance.

Rather than tie up phone lines and take dispatchers out of service
answering the calls, Hicken asks residents to go to the Wisconsin Department of Health
Services website at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/index.htm for information on COVID-19, and to look for updates from the Governor on his website or on social media.
