FDL Everest Climber Survives Earthquake

The 52-year-old Fond du Lac man climbing Mt. Everest to raise funds for Hospice survived the Nepal 7.8 magnitude earthquake that has claimed more than 2,100 lives. According to posts on the Climbing for Hospice website Andy Land was in the Khumbu icefall region near the mountain’s base when the earthquake struck. Everyone on the team and in the camps was reported to be fine. Land is the Director of Hospice and Palliative Care Services for Agnesian HealthCare. His goal was to raise awareness and funds for Hospice hoping to raise up to $1 million. The earthquake impacted four countries including the Himalayas.
