FDL High School Supports Parkside Playground Fundraiser

This year’s Fond du Lac High School Cardinal’s Nest team chose to provide support to Parkside Elementary School’s initiative of raising funds to purchase new playground equipment. A primary fundraising component for this project is to increase participation in the corporate loyalty programs such as Box Tops, Milk Moola Caps, Labels For Education, and Tyson Foods Project A+ labels and earmark those collections for new playground equipment. The goal was to quadruple the October redemption of $472.30 and collections since then have more than doubled, however, with the average smaller piece of equipment costing around $15,000 a lot more is needed.

Since being established in 1972, Parkside has received only one piece of playground equipment to add to its original playground. The goal of this project is to provide the students of Parkside with some of the same recreational opportunities on the playground as students at other schools in the district.  “As high school seniors, all of us having gone through the Fond du Lac School District, our team really believes that students should have equal opportunities,” said Stuart Nett, PR Specialist for the Cardinal’s Nest.  “We felt that addressing the playground equipment need was something we could definitely support and create an awareness of. We wanted to do what we could to increase funds.”

Fond du Lac High School has been collecting product incentive labels since November to bolster Parkside’s collection, yet the funds generated from their efforts may not be enough. Collections, donations, and creative fundraising efforts in the workplace, throughout the community and by local organizations may help support this goal in multiple ways.

The next redemption deadline is the beginning of March. Please drop your collections off at Parkside Elementary School or Fond du Lac High School by February 20, 2014.
