FDL Looks At Bike Share Program

The City of Fond du Lac is exploring the possibility of starting a bike share program. This week residents had a chance to see what one possible company offers, BCycle LLC, during a demonstration near Hamilton Park. Community Development Director Dyann Benson says about 50 people attended the demonstration. She says people are certainly interested in the idea. The BCycle stations come with 10 bikes, but cost $50,000 a piece. Benson says they would probably get two to four stations and locate them around the City including Lakeside Park. She says to fund the purchase the City would put up some money then recruit community partners. She says BCycle in just one of the companies that offers a bike share program. The company is from Madison.
