FDL Man May Have Been Asleep When He Hit Woman With Car

The 47-year-old Fond du Lac man who drove up on a grassy area off Winnebago Drive and struck a 46-year-old Fond du Lac woman may have been asleep at the wheel after smoking marijuana and drinking heavily the night before. Bond was set at $25,000 cash when Aarron Schmitz Sr. was charged in Fond du Lac County Court today. In reviewing the complaint to the judge, District Attorney Eric Toney said Schmitz had allegedly smoked three large marijuana cigarettes and drank a liter of Kessler’s whiskey the night before the accident and may have fallen asleep at the wheel. He hit Traci Luther Tuesday night. Luther is still in critical condition at the Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. She was out for a walk when she was struck. Schmitz is charged with 2nd degree reckless injury, injury by use of vehicle while under the influence a controlled substance and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. In deciding on bail Judge Dale English noted Schmitz bail jumping history and the fact that he was facing up to 29 years in prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next Friday

This guy needs to stay in jail! He put my sons mother in a induced coma and has severe head trauma! He should rot in hell and if I ever see him he's a dead man. She's barley hanging on there!

Wow Lori I don't know who you are but you are way off base. The family of the Luther's would never wish for him to rot in hell or say what you did. Please put your anger to good and pray for her and her family. Nothing good can come out of such anger.

Nobody understands or knows what the
Luther family would want or do so how about
Instead of arguing you pray for her and hope
She has a 100% recovery

As family I'm sure everyone one is more worried about Traci and he'll get his due justice one way or another. Right now the more prays the better, not bitterness it will do the family no good in the healing of her and both husband and children. Prays to them all.

I know this guy and he is a piece of work!! His lifestyle caused this tragedy and he should have to pay for this....my prayers go out to the family and to Traci for a full, speedy recovery.
