FDL Man Rescued From Lake Winnebago Snowmobile Crash

A 33-year-old Fond du Lac man was rescued from Lake Winnebago after hitting an ice shove with his snowmobile Sunday afternoon. Calumet County Sheriff’s officials got a 911 call from the man who believed he had broken ribs. He was traveling with his brother when he crashed about 3 ½ miles off the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago. Rescuers encountered “white out” conditions because of blowing snow and large areas of open water near the crash site. A DNR plane helped locate the victim who was brought to shore to a waiting ambulance. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
