FDL Man Rescued From Roof

A Fond du Lac man was rescued after he nearly fell from
the roof at his home Sunday evening. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue received a
call around 6:48 pm on the non-emergency line from a man who said his friend
was stuck on the roof at his home on East Scott Street and was losing his grip
and about to fall. When fire crews arrived, they found the man hanging from the
chimney near the peak of the roof in danger of falling. Rescue crews placed a
24-foot extension ladder and reached a 14-foot roof ladder to the peak. The man
was able to grab onto the roof ladder as soon it was placed and he was successfully
rescued without incident. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary credited rescue
crews who kept the man calm and got him down safely and added
a reminder that people
should call 911 if an immediate response by emergency crews is needed. O’Leary said,
“We are not always at our fire stations, and your call may not be answered as
quickly if you call our non-emergency lines”.
