FDL Man Sentenced for 5th OWI, Reckless Endangerment

A Fond du Lac man will spend the next four years behind bars after being sentenced for First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Fifth Offense OWI. 32-year old Andrew Qualls was sentenced to three years in prison with five years on extended supervision. A revocation of his supervision from his previous OWI offense adds another twelve months onto that sentence.

Over the Memorial Day weekend – Qualls nearly struck Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt’s personal vehicle head-on along Highway 23, before blowing through a stop sign at about fifty-miles per hour. Waldschmidt, who was off-duty at the time, pursued Qualls until on-duty deputies were able to catch him.
