FDL Police ID Man who Died After Arrest Last Month

Fond du Lac Police have released more details about a man
who died while in police custody last month. According to a press release,
37-year-old Christopher L. Cary of Fond du Lac was rushed to St. Agnes Hospital
after showing signs of medical distress in the back seat of a police squad car
on the night of December 23rd. He later died at the hospital. Cary
had been taken into custody for violating conditions of his bond after a
traffic stop near the intersection of Division Street and Main Street. Three
Fond du Lac Police Officers – Officer Sandra O’Donnell, Officer Brandon Meudt
and Officer Trenton Smith – were placed on administrative duty immediately following
the incident per standard procedure, but returned to regular duty on January 10th.
The Sheboygan Police Department handled the investigation of the case. Further information
will be made public at the release of the District Attorney’s and Investigative
Report findings.
