FDL Police Make An Arrest In Infant Death

Fond du Lac Police have arrested a 23-year-old Calumet City, Illinois woman in connection with the death of her 14-month-old infant son. The woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the police department. She’s being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on preliminary charges of child neglect causing death and child neglect causing great bodily harm. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says she was responsible for the infant’s care in fact she was the primary caregiver. He says an autopsy determined there was more to the infant’s death. He says there was significant blunt force trauma and other injuries to the child. He says the woman and child aren’t from Fond du Lac and were just visiting a friend at the Maplewood Commons Apartments on Tuesday, July 7th when the infant stopped breathing and had no pulse. Paramedics performed CPR and worked feverishly to try and revive the child that day. The baby boy was taken to St. Agnes Hospital where he died. Klein says they are looking for another person of interest in the case and have been working with police from Milwaukee and Chicago.
