FDL Police Memorial Ceremony Held

Four police officers who were shot and killed in the line of duty in Fond du Lac over the years were remembered during a police memorial ceremony Thursday. Officer William Prinslow died in 1898, Nick Klaske in 1961, Officer Craig Birkholz in 2011, and State Trooper Trevor Casper in 2015. Fond du Lac Police Chief Bill Lamb told families of those officers that their sacrifices will not be forgotten. Lamb noted 143 police officers died in the line of duty across the nation last year.  A 16 percent increase over the previous year. He says the incredible sacrifice and the sacrifices of our nation’s law enforcement officers is far too often forgotten and taken for granted. He also told the gathering they should never forget just how much is sacrificed by all who have the courage to wear the badge.

A rose is laid at the Police Memorial in honor of Officer Craig Birkholz.
