FDL Police Pinning Ceremony A Victory For Department In Battle To Fill Vacancies

Four new officers received their badges and took their oath of office at the Fond du Lac Police Department Thursday afternoon. Police Chief Bill Lamb says those four officers help them complete an uphill battle that at one time saw the department with as many as ten vacancies. He says over the last four and a half years the department has hired and trained 22 new officers or more than half of their police force. Field training officers invested thousands of hours in training those officers. He says the 22 officers went through 17,000 hours of training. Chief Lamb thanked the City Council for its patience in allowing the department to hire and train the officers the right way. He also informed new Officers Joseph Belisle, Timothy Fischer, Bethany Johnson, and Sandra O’Donnell that they are now working for a community that has shown tremendous support for the police department especially over the past five years.
