FDL Police Use Taser To Arrest Hit And Run Driver

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (KFIZ) – It took a taser to arrest a hit and run driver in Fond Du Lac Wednesday Night.  Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says Officers were called to E. Johnson and N. National Ave for a Hit and Run complaint.  The caller said an SUV without it’s headlights on was Eastbound, and tried to make a left turn at National and hit a pickup truck.  The crash spun the pickup truck around and hit a traffic light.  The SUV took off after the crash.  An officer was able to locate the fleeing vehicle and stop it.  The driver admitted to being in the accident and seemed to be impaired.  The 57 year old refused to get out of the vehicle after being told he was being arrested.  When the officer opened the vehicle’s door, the man began fighting with officers.  That’s when the taser was deployed.  The man’s facing a 2nd OWI charge, along with a number of charges for the accident he caused, and resisting arrest.
