FDL Regional Clinic Welcomes Cardiology Nurse Practitioner

Agnesian HealthCare’s Fond du Lac Regional Clinic is pleased to welcome Jessica Michels, APNP, as a new nurse practitioner with Cardiology, 420 E. Division Street.

As a nurse practitioner, she provides care to patients with various heart concerns, such as coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation and valvular heart disease.

“I take a holistic approach to care with my patients focusing on them as a whole as compared to just their specific illness,” says Michels.

Michels earned a Master of Science and Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She has been serving for the past four years as a nurse practitioner with the Fond du Lac County Virtual Clinic at Agnesian HealthCare.

“I am looking forward to specializing in cardiology, and promoting disease prevention and healthy lifestyles,” she says.

A nurse practitioner obtains medical histories and performs physical examinations; provides immunizations and other preventive care; diagnoses and treats illnesses; identifies, treats and manages chronic illness, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and arthritis; orders and interprets diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, blood work and EKGs; and prescribes therapy services.

Michels lives in Fond du Lac with her three-year-old daughter. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, bicycling, traveling, and playtime with her daughter.
