FDL Resident Pulled Over By Phony Cop

Police say a Fond du Lac resident did the right thing in suspecting the person that pulled them over was not a real police officer. Officer Erik Foster says the driver was suspicious and asked all the right questions. That person impersonating a police officer was located with the help of Appleton Police. Foster says if the car pulling you over isn’t marked, doesn’t have police lights and you don’t see a badge; you have the right to be suspicious. He says if you’re pulled over in Fond du Lac and you’re not sure it is a real cop call their non-emergency number 906-5555 and dispatch can check if an officer is out on a traffic stop in that area. He also recommends pulling over in a well lit area where there are a lot of people around.
