FDL Restaurant Holding Fundraiser To Help Puerto Rico Hurricane Victims

A Fond du Lac restaurant will be holding a fundraiser this Saturday to benefit Hurricane Maria victims in Puerto Rico. Las Islas owner Bella Andrews is a native of Puerto Rico. She and former Fond du Lac resident Camille Solberg both have family in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Bella says the two discussed the possibility of a fundraiser when Camille stopped for dinner one day. The restaurant serves Puerto Rican and Costa Rican cuisine. They are teaming up with Society Insurance and the Red Cross for the relief effort, which will be at the restaurant from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Dinner and live salsa music are included in the $50 fee. Dinner is from 5 to 7 p.m. and live salsa music will follow. Steve Hansen is the Chapter Executive for the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter of the Red Cross. He says 70 percent of the people living in Puerto Rico are still without power. Red Cross volunteers have been working with them. To make reservations for the event call the restaurant at 920-933-3130. Seating is limited.
