FDL School Board Approved Budget

The Fond du Lac School Board Monday approved the 2015-16 Budget and tax levy. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says it is a positive picture despite some challenges. He says they had $1.6 million less in state aid and an additional $313,000 of the levy will go to the school choice program. He says the good news is property values increased by 2.3 percent so the tax rate will be $9.88 per thousand dollars of value on a property instead of the $10.01 they had first anticipated. Sebert says this year they had to fund 41 voucher students out of the tax levy, which is the first time in the three years of the school choice program that it didn’t come out of state funding. The overall tax levy for the school district is $34.3 million.
