FDL School Board Approves Preliminary Budget

The Fond du Lac School Board approved a preliminary budget for the 2017-18 School Year during Monday night’s meeting. The $109 million budget includes a $31.5 million tax levy, which is about 3.5 percent lower than the past school year. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says that is due in part to the additional state aid they will be receiving. With property values in the County increasing by 3 percent that also helps to lower school taxes. Sebert says they try to make the most of what taxpayers and the state gives them. The preliminary mill rate is $8.95 or 33 cents less than the previous school year. The school board won’t finalize the budget until next month.
