FDL School Board Considers Long Range Facilities Planning Proposal

The Fond du Lac School Board tonight will consider approving a long-range facility planning proposal with CD Smith Construction and Bray Architects that could lead to a possible referendum. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says the Board held a workshop with Greg Sabel of CD Smith and Matt Wolfert of Bray Architects following their April 24th meeting. He says the long-range facility planning would start this summer. He says if they decide to hold a referendum in the next year the fall of 2018 it would come at a time when they are retiring some previous referendum debts. He says the referendum debts from the High School and another from 2006 are nearing retirement. He says the District’s facilities are in good shape, but buildings age and it would be a nice time to take a look at their future needs. Bray would charge a base fee of $9,500 for the facilities assessment and pre-referendum planning. C.D. Smith would not charge for that phase. If the referendum is proposed and is successful fees for implementation for the two firms would be contingent upon the cost of a facilities project.
