FDL School District Budget Approved

Fond du Lac Schools Superintendent Jim Sebert says there was a ‘Perfect Storm’ of circumstances that led to a 3.8 percent decrease or nearly $1.2 million cut in the district’s 2014-15 Budget and a 3.5 percent decrease or nearly $1.3 million cut in the tax levy. He says there will be no reduction in staff or programs and it’s a good budget. He says there were several factors that led to the lower budget and tax levy. He says those factors include slightly increasing enrollment, more state aid and a slight increase in property values. The mill rate will be 5 percent less and works out to $9.57  per thousand dollars of value on a property or a decrease of about 50 cents. The school board approved the budget and tax levy yesterday afternoon.
