FDL Sheriff’s Office Working to ID Man That Led Deputies on High Speed Chase

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is working to
identify the driver of a car that led deputies on a high speed chase Friday night.

A news release says a deputy had pulled over a car on Interstate
41 near County Highway F around 8:40 pm for an unsafe lane change and because the
registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. While the deputy was
trying to determine the real identity of the driver – who had given three
different names that did not come back on file – the man sped away from the traffic
stop.

Sheriff’s deputies pursued the vehicle southward on I-41 to
Highway 49, then continued back north on I-41 to Highway 26 near Oshkosh. The
chase was terminated, after the deputy obtained the correct registration matching
the vehicle and was able to visually identify the driver of the car.

The chase lasted 29 miles and reached speeds of 107 miles
per hour. No injuries or damage were reported. The Sheriff’s Office was
assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The driver of the car faces several
criminal charges once they are identified.
