FDL Will Keep Ethics Board

By a unanimous vote the Fond du Lac City Council voted to deny a request to disband the City’s Ethics Board. City resident Laura Degolier pled with the Council Wednesday night not to disband the board saying it’s an excellent place where citizens can take their grievances even if it doesn’t meet that often. She says the image of doing away with the board is awful and sends the wrong message to citizens. She says instead it should be beefed up. City Councilwoman Catherine Block told Council members she at first thought it should be disbanded, but changed her mind. She says the cost of having an Ethics Board is minimal compared to the public opinion of not having one. The Council did however vote to disband the Equal Opportunities Commission.
